Slip into Fall
I love a good slip dress. They are versatile, easy to wear, and easily alterable- add a shirt or a skirt (underneath or on top!) and that trusty slip looks like a whole new dress. Which is why I got excited when I saw this long-sleeve variation on a slip for fall in the most lovely ice-blue hue from one of my favorite sustainable labels, Baserange.
The folks at Baserange, which stands for Basic Aesthetic for Sustainable Easywear, write this about their company:
Baserange is a line of sustainable under and easy wear. The collection favors a philosophy of creating clean, easy and accessible garments that exist somewhere between modern culture and the natural world.
The focus is on working with high quality, organic fabrics in innovative ways that benefits both producer and consumer while minimizing environmental impact.
This is all well and good, but what makes Baserange great is that the clothes are also really cool. And because I don't believe shopping sustainably should ever feel like a sacrifice of style, it means something to me when the clothes speak for themselves.
So, back to this fall slip, I would style it as follows:
- a striped silk shirt wrapped around the waist
- layers of necklaces, or perhaps one of the Bedouin variety such as this:
- and these amazing cutout booties!
And you're done! Ready to sip apple cider and collect a mélange of mums at your local farm. It's true that your new heels are 4.5" and will sink in to the ground and you'll feel terribly impractical but you'll still be wearing this fabulous outfit and it won't matter.
Also, if you're feeling this fabric, but not sure if a slip dress is your style, Baserange put out a draped calf-length skirt you might enjoy.
