What I Wish I Were Wearing Right Now

What I Wish I Were Wearing Right Now

As far as I'm concerned, the best way to deal with an unseasonably cold and rainy spring day (as we have in Paris today)—the kind that obliges you to pull out your already tucked-away coat and prevents you from wearing what you really want—is to instead daydream about an outfit you would wear, meteorological conditions notwithstanding. Here goes:

Step 1: Go straight for the drama with this Ralph Lauren Collection Bias Cut Skirt via eBay.

Step 2: Next, add this 1930s gold silk woven silk top via Etsy.

Step 3: Obviously, we are far from done here. Top the top with this 1920s Sequin Bolero via 1stdibs.

Step 4: With the outfit sorted, it's time to accessorize!

I'll start by wrapping this 1920s Lace Metallic Remnant around my head as a turban because I've recently discovered that turbans greatly amplify the experience of being alive.

I'd add this chinoiserie tasseled necklace because tassels serve a similar function to turbans. Also, note to self: chinoiserie + tassels = the stuff of sartorial dreams; revisit this pairing frequently.

I'll sneak another tassel in with this 1930s vintage purse which also introduces a hint of blue to match the necklace:

For the final touch, these feathered Manolo Blahnik heels which are not my size but would be in my dreams, which this technically is!

And there you have it. Now where, oh where, am I wearing this outfit to? Suggestions warmly invited.
