Handing it to Daphne Guinness

Handing it to Daphne Guinness

I'm reflecting on my recent about face from the world of streamlined, pared-down neutrals to a desire for a kind of more-is-more maximalism I never thought myself capable of. One of the things I've been wanting more of is jewelry- stacked, layered, and piled on high. I'm inspired by the idea of creating a sense of individuality through the use of creatively layered jewelry, resulting in a look that can be only one's own. Enter Daphne Guinness, heroine of this site, and concurrent exemplar of outré jewelry styling. Let's take a moment, shall we, and celebrate the incredible work of art that is Daphne Guinness' hand adornment.

I think it's beautiful to be able to cover yourself in metal. I love the color and the way it reflects. But it is also a protection.

I dislike the idea of jewelry being like a price tag around someone's neck. It needs to be something else - and there is something extremely magical about armor.

As I got older I looked at the world and I realized, we need armor. So my jewelry and clothes became my armor.

I'm not sure about you, but my hands feel positively naked right now. Add to sartorial to do list: adorn hands, report back.
