An Early Fall Styling Idea Courtesy of 1990's Calvin Klein
As a former minimalist who has since embarked on a more maximal hiatus of unknown capacity, I haven't had pared down styling dreams in some time. I've been so busy fantasizing about printed fabrics and 1920s lamé and tassels that I haven't had time to contemplate the merits of my once go-to monochrome. Which is why I was surprised to find myself strongly drawn to this Calvin Klein minimalist ensemble from the the Spring 1994 ready-to-wear collection.
For fall, I'm thinking how lovely it would be to wear a straight silk slip and an oversized sweater in a unified color palette. I'm partial to this ivory, but I'm also thinking how good a navy, a burgundy or an olive green would be. The key, as I see it, is to find a slip and sweater that are weighty enough to feel substantial for fall. Screams magical leafy stroll followed by a slow afternoon spent with a good book to me. Fall, in a nutshell, in an outfit.
